Everyone’s body, nervous system, and experience with pain or sensory stimulation is different. Comfort isn’t an afterthought — it’s part of how we tattoo. Before your session, we’ll talk about what matters most to you, and we’ll work with you to make your experience feels as calm and comfortable as possible.
When you fill out the Booking Request Form, you’ll see the options below. You’re welcome to select more than one session type.
Here’s what they mean so you can choose with confidence:
A quiet, low-sensory tattoo session with minimal conversation and a calm, relaxed environment. This add-on is ideal for clients who prefer less social interaction or a quieter experience. You’re always welcome to communicate needs, ask questions, or request breaks at any time.
For clients with connective tissue disorders (including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), or related, selecting this lets your artist know to take a gentler approach, be mindful of joint positioning and pressure, offer comfort options like a fan or blanket, allow extra breaks, and take additional care with skin handling throughout the session.
This session allows for the use of topical numbing cream applied by the client prior to the appointment. While we do not provide or apply numbing cream during your session, we’re happy to offer general guidance in advance. Numbing cream may not be suitable for every tattoo or area, and in some cases may affect the tattooing process. Your artist will help guide you on what’s best for your specific session.
For clients getting their first tattoo. We’ll take extra time to walk through the process, answer questions, review aftercare, and check in throughout the session so you know what to expect and feel comfortable every step of the way.
Every tattoo at The Nook includes built-in comfort options to help you feel safe, supported, and at ease throughout your session. These features are included with every appointment — no special request needed — so you can focus on enjoying your experience and your new tattoo.
